QUALITY DEER HAIR FOR FLY TYERS
Varner's Big Bug Hair is uniquely harvested, tanned and graded with specific fly tying applications in mind. Depending on the season, deer hair can vary in hollowness and length due to the animals summer and winter coats. Josh Varner took this into consideration when developing Varner's Big Bug Hair. He went a step further, grading the hair based on length and tip alignment, with Grade 1 having longer and better tip alignment than Grade 2.What's the difference between Mid Season and Late Season?
Varner's Mid Season Big Bug Hair is harvested when deer hair is short and less hollow. This season of deer hair is best used when tying wings of dry flies or smaller streamers with deer hair heads.
Varner's Late Season Big Bug Hair is harvested later when deer hair is longer and more hollow. This season of deer hair is best used when spinning and stacking deer hair or tying large heads that flare, such as bass poppers and divers.
