Steelhead became a priority when he caught his first one as a young boy. After a childhood of fishing, Calvin became a guide in Alaska while getting his degree in Physics from Western Washington University and was an active member is Washington Steelhead Fly Fishers. After guiding Calvin moved to Sandpoint, ID where he married his college sweetheart Camille and they have two boys, who sort of like fishing. Calvin opened his own fly shop in Sandpoint, Sandpoint Outfitters which remained a successful business for years until they merged with House of Fly.
