PERMIT CAMP 2024

San Pedro, Belize

PERMIT CAMP 2024

San Pedro, Belize

WELCOME TO FISH CAMP

Welcome to Fish Camp. A straightforward and unassuming fishing-first style of trip, hosted by a handful of us at the House of Fly. Our Fish Camp experience is a little bit different than the traditional hosted/lodge trip. With our Fish Camps, we are inviting you along to what would otherwise be a group of us planning our own trip somewhere. This keeps the trip simple, affordable, and approachable for anyone. To put it simply, it gets you to some fishy destinations at a lower rate. We will still hire the guides, find local accommodations to stay at, cover the meals, and organize the logistics around getting everyone there and having a good time.

PERMIT CAMP 2024

San Pedro, Belize   |  May 11 - 17th, 2024

Permit Camp will be located near the town of San Pedro, Belize.  San Pedro is a town on the south end of Ambergris Caye. Home to world-famous flats that are home to healthy populations of Permit, Bonefish, and Tarpon. The colorful town of San Pedro is full of great restaurants, shops, and nightlife; which we will get a taste of throughout the trip. Transportation around San Pedro is commonly done by golf cart, bicycle, or walking. This lively town is a great place to visit even without fishing.

TRIP DETAILS

length of stay: May 11 - 17th, 2024

Camp will be held at a spacious Air BnB right on the beach. With access to the water via beach and/or dock, relax after a day of fishing on the patio, in the pool, or inside in the A/C. Anglers will be either be sharing a room if traveling in pairs or groups, but if you are traveling alone, we’ll do our best to find a single occupancy room for you. Bathrooms, Wifi, full kitchen, and other basic amenities you’d expect from any short-term rental will be available.

Camp life will be casual. We are there to host you and to make sure you have a great experience. We are also there to share camp with you too. We will be fishing with you each day, leaving at the same time, and coming back to camp together after a long day. If you are expecting a fully catered lodge experience, this isn’t it. It’s a group of likeminded anglers going on a trip together to Belize. Only difference from a trip you may do on your own is that you don’t have to plan or organize any of it!

FOOD + DRINKS

Once you get to the island, you can expect that all the essential food and drink will be covered by us. We’ll have the house stocked with water, Gatorade, and other non-alcoholic beverages; but we’ll also supply domestic light beer and will have all the goods to make you a mean margarita. Upon arrival, we’ll also gladly make a stop at the liquor store for you to buy anything else that you may want above and beyond that.

All meals and snacks for around the house will be planned out and covered by our crew.

We’ll have a light and mobile breakfast in the morning consisting of muffins, scones, oatmeal, etc. Boat lunches will be provided before you head out for the day. Plan on cold cut sandwiches, some chips, or maybe even last night’s leftovers if we made too much. No bananas.

To keep the camp vibe strong, four nights we’ll hang back at the house and cook up some quick and tasty meals for camp. Tacos, jambalaya, hamburgers, fajitas all could all be in the lineup, served up family style on paper plates and solo cups, just how we’d be doing it if it were just us.

The other two nights we’ll be headed out to town as a group for some local fare. San Pedro offers a wide variety of Belizean food. Restaurants offer fresh fish, empanadas, slow roasted chicken and pork, and many more options. We’ll be handpicking a couple places in town and will cover the meals and a few buckets of local cerveza.

If you prefer an extra night or two on the town, we certainly encourage that you feel free to venture out if you wish to do so; but at minimum just know that we have you covered back at camp with meals to cover every meal.
