As part of our American Small Batch series, the Manic Mantis (size 8) is tied to imitate a range of saltwater shrimp species you'll find on the flats. Tied in Texas and a favorite for Bonefish, the Manic Mantis is tied with bead chain eyes and a weed guard to navigate through aquatic vegetation without snagging up. The fly is mostly tied of synthetic materials for durability: a craft fur/crystal micro flash tail, dubbing body, and marabou collar. The legs are left long for a manic swim action while the shrimp eyes sell it as a viable food source.
