Olsen's Blowtorch Tungsten Bead

Devin Olsen created the Blow Torch after being guided in Tasmania in 2007. His guide had him fishing a tag nymph, featuring a peacock body, a soft hackle collar and a bright tag tied off the end of the shank just above the hook bend. Devin studied the fly and made mental notes only to take these ideas back to his vise. Just like that, the Blow Torch was born; Olsen’s own rendition of the competition fly his guide had instructed him to use. These tag nymphs are highly underused and under-appreciated in the Unites States, but when given the chance they can turn a bad day of fishing into a successful outing.
