- Imitates a terrestrial water wasp or flying ant
- Classic Rene Harrop Design
- Features CDC for high boyancy and a sparse profile
During summer when hatches start to trail off, trout start to key in on terrestrial patterns and refusing mayflies and other Spring dry fly patterns. Rene Harrop's CDC Water Wasp not only mimics a wasp, but also mimics ant-like terrestrials. This pattern works great on the Missouri River and other flatwater fisheries. The CDC and biot wing gives the fly enough float to stay on top while the abdomen breaks the surface film and mimics a ant or wasp struggling to escape the water. This pattern is especially effective from mid-summer through early September.
