Craig is the common jumping off point for many folks looking to fish the Missouri River.  Exit 234 away from Great Falls will get you to Main Street where you will find the following three fly shops waiting in order of appearance to your right.

The Trout Shop

The original fly shop on the Missouri River in Craig, Montana, the Trout Shop has been helping customers since 1989. Stop in for a breakfast sandwich and coffee while you select the hot fly of the day and book your shuttle or meet your guide.

Jerry and Chris have pretty much everything you need.  Ice for the cooler, beer and snacks, carryout river lunches, drift boat rentals, shuttle services, guides and information.  The Trout Shop also features a large parking lot suitable for boats with space to pull around.

Cross Currents Fly Shop in Craig, Montana

Cross Currents is based in Helena Montana, but in 2001, they opened a seasonal shop in Craig.  Just look for the two-story red building with lots of boats around it. They keep the Craig shop open April through October but offer lodgings year-round.

Guides, flies, information, rental boats, gear and schools are all on the menu.

Headhunters Fly Shop in Craig, Montana

The new kids on the block in Craig, Headhunters quickly established themselves as a primary information source for fly fishers looking to get right into it all.  While the footprint of their fly shop is small, it’s stocked to the gills and their voice on the internet is big.

Mark and John like to keep things fresh and fun. Flies, guides, rental boats, lodgings, schools and information come pouring forth.

Fly Shops in Wolf Creek, Montana

Wolf Creek Angler Fly Shop

Located in the town of Wolf Creek, Wolf Creek Angler is the closest shop to Holter Dam and the popular Wolf Creek Bridge boat landing. If you’re heading to the Missouri River from Helena, they are right on your way.

Just take exit 226 to Wolf Creek and you’ll find flies, guides, boats, rental gear, lodging and information.

Fly Shops in Cascade, Montana

Trout Montana Fly Shop in Cascade

The only fly shop in Cascade Montana is Trout Montana.  Chances are you’ll run into Mike who has been in the fly shop business for many years.  Trout Montana is loaded with flies and all the stuff you’ll need to build them. Mike is also loaded with useful information.

You can book a guide, a shuttle or a boat rental.  Beyond the fly shop, Trout Montana features a motel, laundromat and car/boat wash.  If you’re headed southbound on I-15, take exit 256 and you’ll see it.

Prewett Creek Inn and Fly Shop

If you find yourself on the lower end of the Canyon, just south of exit 247 and you need some flies, some gear or some beer, Prewett Creek is waiting.

Phil and Joan Camera can set you up with information, a guide, a rental boat, lodging or a shuttle. Phil might even show you one of his special flies.
