Lobby Hobby Fly Tying Carp Fly Comp - TFP in the Wild

If you're a fly tier, chances are you've been curious enough to check out your local craft stores in search of the next best material that hopefully no one else has figured out yet.   This is not really that.

Right now the water is high on the Missouri and all the backwaters and side channels are full, which means we can get in them, and pre and post spawn carp are tailing all over them.  Actually right this moment the Missouri River near Great Falls is at nearly a record high water level (24,900 CFS) only beaten in 1976 (27,700 CFS).

Austin Schoen, Paul Considine, and I challenged each other after work the other day to a carp fly tying challenge.  We each got up to $15 at Hobby Lobby.  You can use a hook and thread from your regular bench.  There was 30 minutes of tying time.

Then we posted all three patterns on Instagram @flyprojectusa to let everyone vote.  Follow us on Instagram HERE -- FLYPROJECTUSA

The TFP crew is IN THE WILD's of Hobby Lobby searching for carp fly tying material in a tying comp.  Paul, Austin, and Sam find strange  when they compete for the title of "Best Carp Fly in under 30 Minutes with a $15 Budget at Hobby Lobby."  A title anyone would be happy to have on their favorite social media profile, or to add to LinkedIn.

If you try this at home, send us an email with your photos, we'd love to see some good healthy competition to the Hobby Lobby challenge.
